
Stone Paper Scissors seeks to integrate community voice and vision into the cultural and physical landscape through art and education.
Stone Paper Scissors has been creating art projects for public agencies, business associations and communities, since 1994. Previous projects have included the planning of public spaces, developing public arts initiatives for communities, collaborating with design teams, integrating art into capital projects, and fabricating sculptural works. Commissions for public and private spaces, range from urban storefront improvements to playscapes for children to the design of private gardens.
4 local projects have received “Orchid” awards from the San Diego Architectural Foundation and an award for planning from the California chapter of the American Planners Association.

"I'm a community-based artist, but also a business owner and property owner here. This community attracts a different business owner and shopper. We fought hard over the years to keep out the big box stores. Because of that, we also recognize we need to support the independently owned businesses by shopping local. I don't think big retailers can compete with what we're doing, which is creating an event in a community setting which supports local businesses for folks who live and work here...."
